Nestled beneath the magnificent Dunster Castle, the Luttrell Arms is one of Exmoor’s most prestigious hostelries, boasting 2 AA Rosettes for it’s renowned Psalters restaurant.

Faced with an end-of life legacy telephone system, the constant phone system crashes were not only proving expensive to fix, but causing serious disruption to the business.  As we already provided their connectivity, The Luttrell Arms Hotel asked Grapevine for advice on their phone system.

It was clear that continuing the maintenance of an old system would not be financially viable for the client – parts were becoming increasingly more sparse and therefore expensive.  The site connectivity was the next thing to look at; the existing phone system ran over ISDN lines, so investing in a similar system using this form of connectivity would not be a wise investment due to the impending ISDN switch off.

Talking to the customer about their future business plans, Grapevine proposed a new cloud-based 3CX phone system with a Grandstream 48 port analogue gateway to connect their existing analogue extensions and SIP trunks.  With the significant line rental savings made by eliminating ISDN lines, and our free call plan, the monthly savings on connectivity alone enabled the Luttrell Arms to purchase the new 3CX phone system through a lease purchase that was cheaper than their previous connectivity costs.

By hosting the 3CX in Grapevine’s cloud server rather than as a stand-alone on-premis phone system, it allows the client to create a centralised PBX and add additional hotels to the 3CX system as and when required for minimal additional cost and disruption.  This creates a scalable solution for the hotel group with a clear and easy upgrade path for their other legacy phone system sites.
